Superintendent of Police (Kowloon),

sir,

I submit a report of an attack by Japanese upon

boats 1820: and 1490W and one boat number unknown.

It is alleged the attack took place off Mirs

Polat end in territorial Waters at about 12.00 hours on

18th October, 1989.

One complainant disappeared from "T" as soon as

he had made his report.

I obtained the licence mumbers of the two boats

1822 and 1490w from Harbour Department records at Shau-

kiwan and these two masters CHENO CHAU KIT and CHENG CHAU

YAU were sent out in No.8 Launch on 22nd and the position

pointed out by them is verified by Officer in Charge No.2

Launch as being close in shore at Mrs Foint in Territorial

Waters.

The crew of all three boats swam ashore and the

boats were set afire by the Japanese.

(sd.) S. Shepheard,

Divisional Inspector, South

23rd October, 1939.
